Page turner
Smitty and Rachelle, this book was very enjoyable.
After all your adventures and life challenges to get to meet you at The Barbersville Pioneer Settlement was really special. Great book, loved it. Lives well lived, I’m going leave this book for my boys to read.
Highly Recommended!
I’ve got nothing but praise for this book and the author. I found myself fascinated by the stories included and the way they’re told. Nothing is stilted, nothing feels forced; this reads as if you are just having a conversation, but wow, the stories! A Hollywood screenwriter couldn’t come up with something like this if they tried. I am in awe of the candidness and I cannot express how much I respect and appreciate that this has been written down and shared.
Stories like these from our veterans are an important piece of our story as a nation, and they deserve to be told. If you’ve read and enjoyed Tim O’Brien’s “The Things They Carried,” Tobias Wolff’s “In Pharaoh’s Army,” or any other memoir or story from those who’ve served in Vietnam, this book is a worthy choice and it provides a unique perspective on military service and lived experience. The commentary throughout was humorous, entertaining, and witty.
I sincerely hope other readers can have the same positive experience with this book that I had.
